AMES, Iowa - The Cowboy track and field team finished in last place at the Big 12 track and field championships over the weekend in Ames, Iowa, but the Cowboys did leave with several personal bests, a national qualifying performance and an individual Big 12 championship performance.
Junior middle distance runner, Brian Young provided the day's brightest OSU performance. He got boxed in early but came alive in the end to win the conference 1,000m championship, leaving Zach Davies of Kansas State and Missouri's Dan Dellegrazio behind going into the final 300m. He won by nearly two seconds finishing in 2:24.83 to Davies (2:26.72) and Dellegrazio (2:26.74).
"I felt great, great!" exclaimed Young. "I was not worried when I got boxed in, it did not affect my race."

"I ran strong early on and that makes me feel good. I was on pace for an 8:00 automatic national qualifying time."
Goucher also dominated the 5,000m run but all three Cowboys finished in the top 10 spots: junior Nathaniel Lane was seventh (14:33.21), junior Ren
