STILLWATER, Okla. - The seventh-ranked OSU men's golf team plays in its final tuneup for the Big 12 Championship when the Cowboys compete in the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday and Sunday.
Including OSU and the tournament host, 15th-ranked Arizona State, the field's 18 teams include four top-20 squads. The Sun Devils have won the tournament the past two years and three of the last four seasons while the Cowboys have finished third or better in their past three entries into the tournament.
The tournament will be played at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course (par 72, 7,027 yards). The 18 teams (including the Swedish National Team) will play 36 holes on Saturday followed by a final round on Sunday. Play begins both days at 7 a.m. MST/PDT.
Idle last week, the Cowboys for the most part held their positions in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released Thursday. Sophomore Edward Loar remained in sixth place individually; freshman Charles Howell slipped two slots to 19th; and senior Bo Van Pelt fell five positions to No. 50.
The Big 12 Championship will be contested April 27 and 28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
