June 21, 1999 | Cowboy Golf
STILLWATER, Okla. - Charles Howell and Bo Van Pelt made sizeable leaps and the Oklahoma State men's golf team moved up one spot in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released today.
Howell, a freshman from Augusta, Ga., is currently ranked 23rd nationally, up 21 spots from his position a week ago, and Van Pelt, a senior from Richmond, Ind., re-entered the top 100 at No. 34 after being unranked a week ago. The pair tied for second after yesterday's final round of the Cleveland Golf/Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas.
The Cowboys continue to be led individually by sixth-ranked Edward Loar, a sophomore from Rockwall, Texas, who dropped one position but remained ranked among the nation's top 10.
OSU, buoyed by a third-place finish in the prestigious Morris Williams event, moved up one spot in the team rankings and is currently eighth.
The Cowboys' next competition is the U.S. Collegiate Championship, April 3-5 in Orlando, Fla.
