Men's Golf Has Strong Showing at ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. - Bo Van Pelt and Landry Mahan tied for third individually, and the Oklahoma State men's golf team finished third as a team at the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational on Sunday.
The Cowboys went into Sunday's round as the tournament leader, but a 4-over-par 292 in the final round dropped OSU two spots to third place at 871 overall, 7-over-par and four strokes behind tourney champion UCLA. Oklahoma State, still looking for its first team title of the year, will have to try to pick it up in the Big 12 Championship on April 27-28.
Mahan, who competed as an individual, and Van Pelt finished at 1-under 215, four shots behind UCLA's Brandon DiTullio. Boyd Summerhays had his best finish of the year, tying for 11th at 1-over; the Cowboys lineup was rounded out by Edward Loar (22nd, 220), Charles Howell (46th, 224) and Jay Tewell (60th, 227).
