Men's Golf Finishes Second Round of Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Edward Loar bounced back from a poor first round with the day's best individual round, and the seventh-ranked OSU men's golf team moved into eighth place after Friday's second round of the NCAA Central Regional.
However, the Cowboys are not quite out of danger heading into the final round. The top 10 teams at the regional qualify for the June 2-5 NCAA Championship; OSU's 19-over-par score of 595 is just seven strokes out of third place but is also only five out of 11th.
Loar carded a 2-under-par 70, improving by eight strokes over his Thursday showing, and moved up 56 places to a tie for 31st at 4-over 148 through 36 holes. Landry Mahan is OSU's top individual, one stroke ahead of Loar and in 25th place. Charles Howell (35th at 149), Anders Hultman (72nd, 153) and Peter Davidson (95th, 157) rounded out OSU's lineup.
The regional concludes with a single round Saturday. OSU is hoping to qualify for NCAA Championship play for the record 53rd consecutive season.
