LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Oklahoma States fifth-ranked Cowboy golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round of the of the 11th annual Golf Digest Collegiate Invitational here Friday afternoon at the Desert Inn Golf Club. The Pokes are six strokes behind first-place Georgia Tech.
Top-ranked Clemson and New Mexico, both with scores of 295, are three strokes behind the Yellow Jackets 292. Georgia is fourth with a 296, two strokes ahead of OSU and UNLVs 298. Freshman David Gossett of Texas leads the individual standings with a five-under-par 67. OSUs Anders Hultman leads the Cowboys with a par-72.
Other Oklahoma State scores include Charles Howell, tied for 15th with a 74, Edward Loar and Nick Seymour both tied for 35th with a 76, and Landry Mahan tied for 48th with a 78.
The tournament will continue on Saturday with a round of 18 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. PST, and will conclude with a final round of 18 on Sunday.
