Men's Golf Earns Top Ranking

STILLWATER, Okla. - A strong performance in the Ping-Golfweek Preview has moved the Oklahoma State mens golf team into first place in the latest MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings.

The Cowboys had been ranked fifth in the preseason poll, but a victory at the prestigious Preview - which featured 15 ranked teams playing on the site of this years NCAA Championship - swayed the poll voters.

Sophomore Charles Howell was the individual medalist at the Preview and moved up three spots to No. 4 nationally. Teammate Edward Loar moved from ninth to seventh.

The rankings were compiled by a vote of selected mens and womens collegiate coaches. The next release of the rankings will be Nov. 11; the first computer rankings will be released Feb. 24.

OSU is in action Oct. 12-13 at the Red River Classic in Dallas.
