STILLWATER, Okla. - Daniel Lawson, a 6-foot-6-inch, 207-pound guard, has signed a letter of intent with the Oklahoma State men's basketball program.
Lawson averaged 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.4 steals per game while hitting 36.3 percent of his three-point attempts for Mott Community College (Flint, Mich.), which finished the season ranked second in the final NJCAA Division II poll.
A second-team All-America selection, Lawson was named the Player of the Year in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association after leading the Bears to a 26-6 overall record and a conference championship.
"We're very pleased and excited that Daniel Lawson has made the decision to join our program at Oklahoma State University," said OSU head coach Eddie Sutton. "He is a very skilled and versatile athlete who can play a number of different positions on the perimeter, and he will be a welcome addition to our team.
"Daniel comes from an outstanding junior-college program in Mott Community College, which has had a lot of success under Coach Steve Schmidt."
A native of Detroit, Lawson attended Mackenzie High School prior to joining Mott Community College.
Lawson is the third player to sign with Oklahoma State this year; the Cowboys have one scholarship remaining for 1999-2000.
