PRINCETON, N.J. (College Golf Foundation release) - Oklahoma State University sophomore Charles Howell has been named the Rolex College Golfer of the Month for September.
Howell won the individual medalist honors at the Ping/Golfweek Preview, one of the top tournaments on the Rolex Collegiate Tour. He shot even par (73-69-74--216) while leading OSU to the team title. Ranked No. 7 in the preseason edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, Howell finished the month with a stroke average of 72.00 (three rounds).
The Rolex College Golfer of the Month is voted on by members of the College Golf Foundation's Golfer of the Month Committee. The award is based primarily on results from Rolex Collegiate Tour events, plus conference championships, NCAA Regionals and the NCAA Championships. Each winner receives a certificate from the College Golf Foundation in recognition of this honor.
The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is administered by the College Golf Foundation, a non-profit organization, founded with the corporate support of Rolex Watch U.S.A. and also sustained by an alliance with MasterCard International, dedicated to the growth and promotion of men's and women's collegiate golf.
