Freshman Matt Smith Invited to National Team Training Camp

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State left handed pitcher Matt Smith has been invited to the USA Baseball summer camp for the 1998 USA Baseball National Team.
"It was pretty much unexpected," said Smith. "the phone call was out of the blue and once I received it I was pretty happy."
Smith is one of 29 players selected thus far on the 40 player roster. He is also one of eight selected to the team.
"It really never entered my mind, because I was worrying about the team. I knew of team USA but I didn't know that I was one of the lucky ones." Said Smith.
The freshman from Henderson, Nev. is currently 4-1 on the season for the Cowboys and has a team lowest ERA of 3.38.
The team trials will be held June 1, at Hi Corbett Field, home of the USA Baseball and Cactus League spring training home of the Colorado Rockies.
