STILLWATER, Okla. - Second-ranked Charles Howell and fifth-ranked Edward Loar lead the Oklahoma State men's golf team as it opens its spring schedule this week at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Cowboys will compete Wednesday through Friday against a field that includes seven of the nation's top 25 teams, including defending national champion and fourth-ranked UNLV.
The Cowboys, ranked fifth in the nation in the latest MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, will send Howell, a sophomore, and Loar, a junior, to the event along with junior Landry Mahan and freshmen Anders Hultman and Nick Seymour.
Oklahoma State has enjoyed a great deal of success at the Burns Intercollegiate. The Cowboys had won the event in its last four entries until last year's still-impressive third-place showing. Howell finished third last season with a 12-under score of 204.
The tournament is played at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, a 6,512-yard, par-72 track located on the windward side of the island of Oahu. Because of the time change, results may not be available until the morning after each day of the event.
