STILLWATER, Okla. - Eight members of Oklahoma State's men's track team were named to the first-team Academic All-Big 12, while another three were named honorable mention, the conference announced recently.
Andrew Hennessy led the way for the Cowboys, posting a 4.00 for graduate studies in health, physical education and leisure last fall. This honor comes on the heels of Hennessy being named Academic All-American last month for the cross country season.
Graduate Nathaniel Lane and junior Ren Carlsen, fellow Academic All-Americans in cross country, also were named to the all-conference first-team.
Juniors David Greenshields and Chris Nuttle, sophomores Staffan Stegmark and David Metzger and freshman Cam Katchuck rounded out the Cowboys' portion of the first team.
Senior Ben Phillips, junior Jerry Rainey and sophomore Scott Gray were the three Cowboys named honorable mention.
Iowa State led all Big 12 schools with 18 athletes named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, including 14 on the first team.
All classes refer to the athletes' academic standing.
