Eight Cowboy Wrestlers Named Academic All-Big 12

DALLAS, Texas - Oklahoma State's wrestling team, known for its dominance on the mat, showed they have well-rounded student-athletes as eight Cowboys were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team.
The Cowboys had five of the 18 members on the first team. Included on that list was sophomore Josh Cruzan a fire protection major, freshman undecided major Tony Gansen, sophomore business major Todd Munson, junior Jeff Ragan a math major, and top-ranked 142-pounder Steven Schmidt an electrical engineering major.
It is Schmidt's fourth-time to be named academic all-conference. Ragan, Cruzan and Munson are making their second appearance on the list.
Listed as honorable mention where Shawn Smith, a junior Russian major, Ty Wilcox, a freshman business major, and Steve Williams a junior education major.
The Cowboys tied Nebraska with eight members on the academic team. Oklahoma and Missouri had four wrestlers each and Missouri placed two members on the squad.
The Cowboys, the top-ranked team in the nation, just completed their second straight undefeated season, and have won 45 straight duals. The Pokes will be in action on Saturday, March 7, when they wrestle in the Big 12 Tournament in Norman, Okla.
