STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State junior Edward Loar has been named the Rolex College Golfer of the Month for November, the College Golf Foundation announced today.
Loar won the individual medalist honors at the Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C., at one of the strongest men's events on the fall portion of the Rolex Collegiate Tour schedule. Loar fired a 10-under-par 206 while leading fifth-ranked OSU to an eighth-place finish. Ranked No. 5 in the Dec. 2 edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, Loar finished the month with a stroke average of 68.67 in three rounds.
Loar's teammate Charles Howell, who won the same award in September, is ranked second in the Dec. 2 national poll.
The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is voted on by the College Golf Foundation's Golfer of the Month Committee. The award is based primarily on results from Rolex Collegiate Tour events, plus conference championships, NCAA Regionals and the NCAA Championships. Each winner receives a certificate from the College Golf Foundation in recognition of this honor.
The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is administered by the College Golf Foundation, a non-profit organization founded with the corporate support of Rolex Watch U.S.A. and also sustained by an alliance with MasterCard International, dedicated to the growth and promotion of men's and women's collegiate golf.
