Distance Runners Show Out in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Three Cowboy distance runners traveled to Southwest Missouri State over the weekend to take part in the 1998 Queen City Invitational.

Junior Brian Young qualified provisionally for the national meet in the 1,500m run. His 3:45.31 fourth place performance just surpassed the 3:45.50 standard.

Sophomore Chuck Sloan ran with Young the entire distance but just missed provisional qualification with his 3:46.55 fifth place finish.

Sophomore Ben Phillips is improving every time he steps on the track. He ran a season best 3:52.10, 10th place finish.

The Cowboys will be preparing this week to travel to Stanford, Calif. for the Cardinal Invitational on May 8.
