AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State's women's track and field team got off to an encouraging start at the 72nd annual Texas Relays, in Austin, Texas, Thursday.
Freshman Nancy Guillen continued to impress the collegiate track and field world in the hammer. Guillen once again finished second in the hammer with a throw of 191-9, behind Florence Ezeh of Southern Methodist.
Ezeh also defeated Guillen at last week's Southwestern Track and Field Invitational. Ezeh won Thursday's competition with a throw of 209-7, which is tops in the NCAA this season.
In one of the most grueling events in track and field, Oklahoma State's Esmeralda Thomas finished fifth in the 10,00 meter run with a time of 38:06.33.
Nikki Roady and Karen Rademeyer also competed in the hammer throw for the Cowgirls. Roady finished 19th with a throw of 139-9, while Rademeyer's throw of 131-3 was good enough for 20th-place.
