Cowgirl Soccer To Take on Southern Nazarene in Exhibition

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State will open its third season with an exhibition tilt against Southern Nazarene University Friday night at 7 p.m. at the OSU Soccer Complex.
"The girls are ready to play somebody else besides themselves in real game competition," said head coach Karen Hancock. "We're real excited to play Southern Nazarene for the first time and see where we stack up against them. We have been battling injuries throughout the preseason and are finally getting healthy."
Sophomore Andrea Larsen, last year's leading scorer, is doubtful for the game because of a nagging leg injury.
The Cowgirls return eight starters from last year's squad which finished 9-9-1, with wins in four of their last five games. OSU finished in a tie for sixth place in the Big 12 and missed playing in the conference tournament.
Oklahoma State added some new features to the soccer complex in time for the 1998 season. Friday's game will be the first night contest at the OSU Soccer Complex, with the addition of lights during the summer break. Other new features include a state of the art scoreboard and bleacher seats.
The Cowgirls will play another exhibition on Sunday, August 28 against Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla. at 3 p.m., before opening the regular season against Drury College on Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. at Fayetteville, Ark.
Note: The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a 1998 schedule cup courtesy of the OSU Promotions Office.
