STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's soccer team will prepare for its third season of competition this week as the players report for the beginning of pre-season practice.
The entire squad will report for a team meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 8 p.m. Training will begin on Thursday, Aug. 12, with two-a-day practices in the morning from 9-11 a.m. and in the evenings from 6-8 p.m. The fall semester will begin on Monday, Aug. 17, and practices will be moved to the afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m. for the remainder of the season.
Head Coach Karen Hancock believes that the Cowgirls will continue their climb into the upper echelon of the Big 12 this season. "Our primary goal this year is to finish in the top six teams in the conference and advance into the post-season tournament in San Antonio," said Hancock.
New additions to the team include eight freshmen and one college transfer. Oklahoma State returns eight starters from last year's squad which finished 9-9-1 overall and tied for sixth in the Big 12 with a 4-6 mark.
The Cowgirls open the 1998 campaign with an exhibition tilt against Southern Nazarene on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
