Cowboys Set For Tournament Play in South Florida

HOMESTEAD Fla. - Oklahoma State will carry a five-game win streak into Friday's contest against Harvard at 5 p.m. CST in the first game of the Homestead Challenge.
The Cowboys will play three games in the tournament against Harvard, Ohio State and New York Tech. The two OSU schools will hook up for a Saturday tilt at 5 p.m. CST and will wind up tournament play against New York Tech on Sunday at noon CST.
Harvard split four games with Charleston Southern on Mar 12-13 and stand at 2-2 entering tomorrows contest. The Crimson are led offensively by centerfielder/pitcher Andrew Huling who is batting at a .417 clip with five RBIs. The Harvard pitching staff boasts a 2.89 team ERA with right-hander Andrew Duffel pacing the staff with a 1-0 ledger and 0.00 ERA.
Ohio State is 10-6 heading into this weekend's action. The Buckeyes own a 3-0 series lead over the Pokes, the last win a 5-4 victory on Feb. 26, 1994. The two other Ohio State wins came in the 1966 College World Series including an 8-2 decision in the championship game.
New York Tech is 0-10 as a Division I independent this season after playing in the Mid-Continent Conference in 1998. The Bears will play the University of Miami on Friday and Saturday before facing the Cowboys for the first time in baseball on Sunday.
Slated to pitch for Oklahoma State this weekend will be lefties Dale Pearson (1-1, 3.00 ERA) on Friday and Matt Smith (4-1, 2.06 ERA) on Saturday while right-hander Thom Dreier (2-1, 2.08 ERA) will be on the mound on Sunday to close out the Florida trip.
