Cowboys Finish Season Third in MasterCard Rankings

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State ranks third in the final 1998-99 MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released today.
OSU, which was eighth heading into the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, finished second and the national tournament and moved up five slots in the national rankings. Additionally, sophomore Charles Howell, who finished fifth at last week's NCAA tourney, moved up six spots to finish fourth in the final rankings.
Howell led four OSU golfers who were ranked among the nation's top 100. Junior Edward Loar finished the year ranked 23rd; Anders Hultman is 59th and ranked eighth among the nation's freshmen; and Landry Mahan, who earned a top-20 individual showing at the NCAA tournament, moved back into the poll to finish 70th.
All six of OSU's 1998-99 regulars -- sophomore Peter Davidson and freshman Nick Seymour split time as the team's fifth man -- return to the Cowboys' lineup in 1999-2000.
