Cowboys Extend Season with 12-4 Win Over Oral Roberts

WICHITA, Kan. - Oklahoma State extended its season for at least another game as the Cowboys defeated Oral Roberts, 12-4, in the elimination game of the NCAA Regional in Wichita Saturday afternoon.
The Cowboys will play the loser of the Wichita State, UCLA game tonight at 7 p.m.
Seniors Josh Holliday and Billy Gasparino tied two NCAA offensive records in the game despite not collecting a hit. Holliday walked six times which set a new OSU record and tied the NCAA mark. The previous OSU mark of five was set many times, most recently by Tripp MacKay in 1995. Gasparino tied the NCAA mark and set a new school record with four hit-by-pitches, which has been done six times in collegiate baseball history.
Oklahoma State opened the scoring in the first when Lamont Matthews singled home Carlos Gautreaux to give the Pokes an early 1-0. advantage. Oral Roberts charged back with two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. OSU tied it in the second when designated hitter Trevor Leu and centerfielder Toby Rhodes hit back to back doubles.
Oral Roberts came back to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom half of the second, the last time the Golden Eagles would have the advantage.
After Josh Holliday and Lamont Matthews walked to lead off of the third, Jay McCullough hit a three run homer to left to give the Pokes a 5-3 lead. OSU added another run in the fourth and two more runs in the sixth pushing the advantage to 8-3.
Oral Roberts first baseman Ryan Neill trimmed the lead to 8-4 with a solo homer in the seventh but OSU added four more runs in the eighth to put the game away.
Lamont Matthews led the OSU attack with a 2-for-3 day at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Junior Jeremy Krismer picked up the win and improved to 6-0 with six innings of solid relief. Krismer relieved starter Thom Dreier in the fourth and scattered five hits in six innings while striking out six.
