Cowboy Golfers Move up, Finish Third at the Maxwell

ARDMORE, Okla. -- Seventh-ranked Oklahoma State carded its best round of the tournament to move up to third place after the conclusion of The Maxwell by Pontiac on Sunday.
Freshman Anders Hultman led OSU individually for the third straight tournament, finishing tied for seventh at 5-over-par 215, eight strokes behind Houston's Andy Sanders, who completed a 3-under-par tourney to win medalist honors by five strokes.
Houston won the team competition as well, breezing past second-place Florida by seven strokes and past OSU by 14. The Cowboys shot 11-over-par 291 on Sunday to finish at 38-over 878 for the tournament.
Charles Howell, Edward Loar and Landry Mahan tied for 22nd individually, recording 11-over-par scores. Freshman Bret Guetz, competing as an individual, finished 30th at 13-over; Peter Davidson, also playing as an individual, shot 21-over to finish 62nd; and Nick Seymour was 72nd at 27-over.
OSU begins its national championship run next week when it competes in the Central Regional on May 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio. The top 10 teams from the regional qualify for the June 2-5 NCAA Championship in Minneapolis.
