STILLWATER, Okla. - A pair of grand slams helped Missouri defeat the OSU baseball team 15-3 in a run-rule-shortened game Saturday night.
Mike Rallo and Jake Epstein hit slams for the Tigers in the third and sixth innings as Missouri touched Cowboy starter Matt Smith (5-2), who had previously been red-hot on the mound, for eight runs in 3.1 innings.
The Tigers improved to 35-15 overall and 16-11 in Big 12 play while OSU fell to 36-16, 14-11. The Cowboys, now sixth in the league, trail Missouri and Oklahoma by a single game and third-place Texas Tech by a game and a half heading into Sunday, the final day of regular-season league competition.
The Cowboys will square off against the Tigers on Sunday in a doubleheader and could conceivably leap-frog the Tigers and Sooners to tie Texas Tech for third with a sweep.
