STILLWATER, Okla. -Oklahoma State (21-12, 6-7 Big 12) won Tuesday evening over NC State 9-2, despite a one hour rain delay in the bottom half of the third inning.
NC State (21-12) scored in the top half of the third inning off a Jon Adkins wild pitch that scored Luis Figueroa who walked.
In the bottom half of the third, Oklahoma State had a pair of hits by Jay McCullough and Steve Hill before the rain swept in. After the delay, NC State's Rodney Ormond threw eight straight balls walking in McCullough. The next OSU batter, Marc Fournier, ripped a two RBI single to right field.
The Cowboys would later score three more runs in the fifth inning off three errors by the Wolfpack.
Oklahoma State pulled away from NC State in the seventh with RBI singles by Matt Mabrey and Billy Gasparino.
Adkins had a very strong outing for the Pokes by pitching 8.0 innings, with one earned run and a season high nine strikeouts.
Oklahoma State and NC State will continue play April 8, at 7 p.m.
