STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's 20th ranked baseball team broke 21st ranked Baylor's 12-game winning streak with a 12-1 victory Saturday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The win was the first in the Big 12 conference for the Cowboys (11-5, 1-4 Big 12) and the first conference loss for Baylor (14-5, 4-1 Big 12).
Oklahoma State opened the scoring in the first inning by putting two runs on the board to take the lead for good. The Cowboys then added five runs in the second inning, two of which scored on Billy Gasparino's 10th home run of the season. Oklahoma State also added one run in the sixth and seventh innings before scoring three runs in the eighth inning.
Shortstop Billy Gasparino led the Cowboys offensively by going 3-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Righfielder Lamont Matthews also was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Third baseman Josh Holliday was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs on the day.
Pitcher Thom Dreier (2-1) picked up the win hurling 6.1 innings while allowing only one run and striking out five.
The Cowboys will wrap up the series against Baylor Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
