11 Cowboys Receive Academic All-Big 12 Honors

STILLWATER, Okla. - 11 Cowboys were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team which honors student-athletes with grade point averages of 3.00 and above.
Seniors Josh Holliday and Billy Gasparino, a four-time and a three-time winner respectively, headline the OSU contingent which is the largest of all of the Big 12 schools. In addition to the conference plaudits, Holliday was named to the GTE Academic All-District VI baseball team at the catcher's position. The Stillwater, Okla., native is in the running for Academic All-American honors and was recently named OSU Male Student Athlete of the Year.
Other OSU athletes named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team are Carl-s Gautreaux, Grant Bergman, Trevor Leu, Mike Lorsbach and Lance Smith while Chris Haggard, Kevin Lucas, Toby Rhodes and Matt Smith were given honorable mention status.
Gautreaux, a junior college transfer, was the only member on the entire 37 man first-team to record a perfect 4.0 GPA as a psychology major.
To be nominated one must have a GPA of 3.0 and above and have competed in at least 50 percent of OSU's contests, excluding pitchers.
