Desmond Mason Earns Player Of The Week Honors

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State senior Desmond Mason scored 23 points versus Alcorn State and matched that at UNLV. The forward shot 56 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range in earning Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week honors. In the 79-53 win against Alcorn State, Mason tied a career high with five assists and he also matched his personal best with four three-pointers. In the 89-75 win at UNLV the 6-6, Waxahachie, Texas, native scored 14 of his 23 points in the first half. Mason has scored 20 or more points seven times in the past 11 games dating to last season. Mason is earning the honor for the second time in his career. He was Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week Jan. 11, 1999. The honor is chosen by a panel of media which regularly covers Big 12 men's basketball.
