WACO, Texas - Terance Richardson returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown as Oklahoma State scored 24 unanswered second-quarter points Saturday and beat Baylor 34-14
Baylor (1-10, 0-8) became the first Big 12 team to finish its conference schedule winless since the league began in 1996.
Oklahoma State (5-5, 3-4) kept alive its postseason hopes and needs a victory next week over Oklahoma to be bowl eligible.
Baylor, in its worst finish since a one-victory season in 1971, lost its last six games and 18 of 19.
The Cowboys scored on their first possession, when Tim Sydnes kicked a 48-yard field goal, his longest of the year.
Baylor, ranked 111th in total offense among 114 Division I-A teams, had only three offensive plays in the first quarter. The fourth play, a pass from Jermaine Alfred, was intercepted by J.B. Flowers at the Baylor 35 with 3:11 to go.
Seven plays later, on the first snap of the second quarter, Nathan Simmons dove over from 3 yards out to make it 10-0.
After a 23-yard field goal by Sydnes, Oklahoma State drove 35 yards in seven plays on its next possession, with Kevin Brown running in from the 1.
Baylor, with only one first down in the first half, was forced to punt on the next series and Richardson fielded Kyle Atteberry's kick at the left side, swung around to the right and outraced pursuers down the sideline for a 27-0 lead at the half.
The Cowboys had 54 offensive plays in the first half, gaining 231 yards. Baylor had 18, gaining 12 yards and crossed midfield only once, that coming with 1:30 to go in the half.
Tony Lindsay connected with tight end Bryan Blackwood on a 19-yard pass play in the third quarter to extend the lead to 34-0 before Baylor scored on a 24-yard run by Alfred, ending a more than eight-quarter scoring drought for the Bears.
Daniel Wilturner added a 52-yard interception return for Baylor in the final period.
