Wrestling Opens Season At Missouri

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State opens its 81st year of wrestling against Big 12 Conference foe Missouri Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Hearnes Center Arena in Columbia, Mo.
Missouri is 0-1 on the season after falling to fifth-ranked Illinois 27-12 on Nov. 12.
OSU has dominated the series winning all 25 meetings between the two schools that dating back to the 1928-29 season. The Cowboys came out on top by a 44-0 score last season in Stillwater.
Head coach John Smith begins his eighth year at the helm of the Cowboys. He enters the 1999-2000 campaign with a record of 109-14-2 and is coming off of a 23-0-0 record in 1999.
OSU will also be defending the third-longest winning streak in school history at 68 straight duals.
Reggie Wright is the lone returning All-American off of a squad that finished third at last season's NCAA Championships. He is ranked third at 149 pounds in the preaseason rankings in both Amateur Wrestling News and Intermat
OSU set its starting lineup for the upcoming season this past Thursday in the annual Orange and Black ranking matches. Highlighting the matches was redshirt freshman Jerrod Sanders upset of senior Jamill Kelly at 141 pounds.
Cowboy incumbents Charles Walker (133), Wright (149), Ty Wilcox (165) and Mark Mu?oz (184) all retained their starting spots for the 2000 season.
