Sean Brophy

Sean Brophy joined the Oklahoma State Football staff in December of 2025 as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Working under Eric Morris throughout his career in college football, he previously coached at Incarnate Word, Washington State and North Texas. He also played quarterback for Morris for two seasons at UIW.
Brophy earned his first full-time coaching role as the UNT quarterbacks coach in 2023. He was promoted to passing game coordinator in January of 2025 while maintaining his role with quarterbacks.
A 2018 UIW graduate, Brophy helped the UNT passing offense rank 12th, fourth and second in his three seasons in Denton.
Under his guidance in 2025, UNT quarterback Drew Mestemaker led the FBS in passing yards and passing yards per game, while ranking No. 2 in passing touchdowns, No. 3 in points responsible for, No. 4 in passing efficiency and total offense, No. 7 in passing yards per completion and points responsible for per game and No. 10 in completion percentage.
Brophy began developing Mestemaker in the summer of 2024 when he arrived at North Texas as a walk-on. Mestemaker made his first career start in the 2025 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl against Texas State and set a UNT record for most passing yards in a bowl game with 393 while posting 448 yards of total offense, tied for the most of any FBS player in the 2024-25 bowl cycle. Brophy's guidanace helped lead the Mean Green to the fourth-best passing offense in the country. UNT's average of 328.2 passing yards per game shattered the UNT record of 306.8 set in 2018. UNT threw 33 touchdown passes on the year, which then tied for the second-most in a single season in school history.
Prior to Mestemaker taking the full-time starting role in 2025, Brophy coached a pair of UNT quarterbacks who passed for more than 3,000 yards while finishing inside the FBS top 10 in passing touchdowns in each of his first two seasons with the Mean Green.
In each of his last two seasons in Denton, the UNT offense set the school record for the most passing yards in program history.
In 2023, Brophy helped UNT finished No. 12 in the country in passing offense averaging 304.7 passing yards per game. Mean Green quarterbacks posted a 33-9 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 147.30 passing efficiency rating on the season. In total, the UNT passing offense ranked inside the top-five in program history in passing yards, passing yards per game, completions and touchdowns after the 2023 season.
He spent 2022 as a graduate assistant at Washington State under Eric Morris, assisting with the quarterbacks.Â
During the 2021 season, his first in the coaching ranks, Brophy served as an assistant wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at his alma mater, Incarnate Word. The Cardinals posted a 10-3 record and reached the FCS Playoffs for the second time in four seasons. Brophy assisting in the development of quarterback Cameron Ward, who threw for 4,648 yards and 47 touchdowns on the season.
Prior to coaching, Brophy was a three-year quarterback at UIW after transferring from Glendale Community College before to the 2017 season. At UIW, he played for Morris for his final two seasons, helping the Cardinals to a Southland Conference title in 2018.Â

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Brophy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2018 and a master’s of business administration in 2019.
