Ryan Cameron serves as an assistant director of communications at Oklahoma State and is the primary contact for the men’s golf and women’s basketball programs.
Prior to his appointment, Cameron was a graduate assistant in the media relations office for one year, with primary responsibilities covering women’s soccer and men’s golf. He also worked one year as a student assistant as well, serving as the contact for the men’s and women’s tennis programs.
In addition to his work at OSU, Cameron served as the public relations intern at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for three years.
He has served as the media coordinator for numerous golf tournaments, including the 2003, 2011 and 2018 NCAA Division I Championships, multiple Big 12 Men’s Golf Championships and NCAA Division I regionals in 2001, 2009, 2016 and 2021. He oversaw the statistics crew at the 2003 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional in Oklahoma City as well.
Cameron has also worked a pair of bowl games, the 2004 Cotton Bowl and the 2004 Alamo Bowl, as well as the men’s basketball Final Four that same year. He received multiple honors from Soccer Buzz during his time with the Cowgirl soccer program and has been honored by the CoSIDA Fred Stabley, Sr. Writing Contest four times.
HIs 2019-20 Cowboy Golf media guide finished first in the CoSIDA publications contest in the Spring At-Large category, while his 2023-24 Cowboy Golf media guide was named the Best in the Nation for the University Division by the College Sports Communicators.
Over his career, he has publicized more than 50 All-Americans, including seven national players of the year, and worked with a pair of NCAA championship-winning teams in the 2006 and 2018 Cowboy golf squads.
With the Cowgirl basketball program, he has successfully promoted 10 All-Americans, six WNBA Draft picks and two national award winners.
In 2011, he was integral in the addition of sports information directors gaining the ability to vote for the Fred Haskins Award. Additionally, he votes on a pair of NCAA Division I women’s basketball awards.
Cameron also worked the 2000 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials, the 2017 Women’s Division I Final Four, the 2006 Senior PGA Championship, the 2007 PGA Championship and the 2014 U.S. Senior Open.
The Mustang, Okla. native received his bachelor’s degree in public relations from Oklahoma State.
