2019-20: Received a medical redshirt after season-ending injury in offseason.
2018-19: As a redshirt-junior garnered a 22-9 record for the Cowboys after making the move up to 141 pounds… Went 10-5 in dual action, talleying 41 points for the Pokes in those bouts… Earned his first ranked win of the season on Feb. 24 over No. 16 Max Murin of Iowa… Took third place at the Reno Tournament of Champions in December… Notched eight major decisions on the season, matching the most of any wrestler on the roster… Notched back-to-back falls at West Virginia and Pittsburgh, a road trip in which he spent a brief 3:15 total on the mat… Reached the Big 12 Tournament finals for a third-consecutive season, ultimately dropping the match to OU’s Dom Demas… Earned the No. 15 seed entering the NCAA Championships where he defeated No. 18 Bryan Lantry of Buffalo before falling to Ohio State’s second-ranked Joey McKenna… Defeated in-conference foes No. 17 Ian Parker of Iowa State and Wyoming’s Sam Turner before coming up short against No. 13 Kyle Shoop (Lock Haven).
2017-18: Went 30-5 overall and 14-1 in dual matches at 133 pounds for the Cowboys… Led all Cowboys in dual points scored with 54… Recorded five pins, four technical falls and eight major decisions… Went 6-4 against ranked opponents, including knocking off No. 6 Mitch McKee (Minnesota) in the OSU home opener, earning the honor of NCAA Wrestler of the Week… Scored 52 takedowns in dual matches… Recorded three technical falls at the OCU Open to bring home first-place honors… Boasted three falls and a major decision over former Cowboy Gary Wayne Harding for a first-place finish at the Bob Smith Open… Took second at the Journeymen Classic… Picked up a major decision against Cam Sykora (North Dakota State) and a win over No. 7 Montorie Bridges (Wyoming) to finish second at the Big 12 Championships… Recorded a major decision over No. 10 Jack Mueller (Virginia) and No. 8 Montorie Bridges (Wyoming) for a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Tournament… Earned All-America status for the second time in his career.
2016-17: After his true freshman season was cut short due to injury, rebounded in an impressive way by going 29-4 overall and 14-1 in dual matches in his first full season … 2017 All-American, finishing fifth at 133 pounds … Recorded ranked wins over No. 14 Mitch McKee of Minnesota and No. 11 Bryan Lantry of Buffalo to advance to the championship bracket semifinals … With the honor, became the program’s 35th freshman All-American … Came up with a 5-3 win over No. 7 Eric Montoya of Nebraska in the event’s fifth-place match … Defeated No. 10 Earl Hall of Iowa State, 7-4, in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships, where he finished second … Defeated eventual national champion and No. 1 Cory Clark of Iowa, 7-6, in the Cowboys’ win over the Hawkeyes … Recorded 13 wins over ranked opponents … Tallied 12 bonus point wins, including a team-leading nine major decisions … Earned 53 dual points for the Cowboys, which tied for the most on the team … Recorded 49 takedowns on the season to lead the team … Started the year hot, winning each of his first 16 matches … Went 5-0 at the Southern Scuffle to take home his first career title at the event and help the Cowboys earn the program’s first team title … Competed at the Outlaw Open, and went 4-0 to finish first … Named to the Big 12 and NWCA All-Academic Teams … First-time NCAA qualifier.
2015-16: Put together a 19-1 record in his first year on the squad … Went 2-0 in duals … Wrestled at 133 pounds … Was pulled from redshirt on Dec. 13 against OU, where he pinned returning NCAA champion and No. 2 Cody Brewer in 42 seconds … Because of the win, he was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 14 … Picked up a first-period tech fall over PT Garcia in the dual vs. Wyoming … Of his 19 wins, 11 came with bonus points, including six tech falls and five falls … Fastest fall came in three seconds over NEO’s Dillon McCaleb … Knocked off three ranked opponents … Defeated No. 20 Josh Martinez of Air Force in the Southern Scuffle … Suffered a season-ending injury to No. 1 Nahshon Garrett of Cornell in the Southern Scuffle semifinals … Won the OCU, Oklahoma and Bob Smith opens.
