2023 Cross Country Big 12 Runner of the Week (Sept. 23)
International Competition
Competed for his native country of Kenya on the international stage… Placed third at the 2023 Kenyan Senior Cross Country Championships.
2024 Outdoors
Continued his dominant campaign outdoors, kicking off his season with a time of 28:12.88 in the 10,000 Meters… Earned All-Big 12 honors once again in the 5,000 Meters as he placed third overall with a time of 13:38.84… Qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the 10,000 Meters, narrowly missing out on the regional title as he finished second behind New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel with a time of 28:27.68… At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Kipngetich placed third behind Samuel and Alabama’s Victor Kiprop in the 10K to earn first team All-America honors for the first time on the track… His time of 28:10.25 at the NCAA Championships ranks fifth in program history in the event.
2024 Indoors
Opened his season with an impressive performance at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, clocking a personal-best 5K time of 13:26.34, which ranked third in program history… Took second behind teammate Alex Maier in the 3K at the Eagle Elite Invitational in Boston with his time of 7:44.78, which was fifth in program history… Earned All-Big 12 Honors in the 5,000 Meters with a third-place finish overall… Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 5K, earning second team All-America honors with a 13th-place finish.
2023 Cross Country
Immediately established himself as one of the best long-distance runners in the NCAA in his first season with the Cowboys… Won his first career cross country meet at the Cowboy Jamboree, clocking a time of 23:21.5 for a 20 second victory, which is the sixth-fastest 8K time in the history of the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course… For his performance, Kipngetich was named Big 12 Runner of the Week (Sept. 23)… Earned All-Big 12 honors with his 14th-place finish at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships as the Cowboys brought home their fourth straight conference title… Once again dominated the field at the NCAA Midwest Regionals, defeating the rest of the pack by 10 seconds on his way to the regional individual title and second meet victory of the season… Carried his momentum straight into the NCAA Cross Country Championships, finishing fourth at the national meet, which was tied for the second-highest finish by a Cowboy at the men’s championships… His fourth-place finish boosted the Cowboys to their fifth NCAA title in program history with the fourth-lowest score by any team in the NCAA since 2000 with 49.
