2015-16 (Sophomore season)
• Shot 39.7 percent (25-of-63) from 3-point, which is the fifth-best mark by a sophomore in school history.
• Posted a career-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting against West Virginia at GIA.
• Had four double-digit scoring games as a sophomore, including a 13-point outing against K-State in the Big 12 Championship.
• Hit the game-tying 3-pointer with 16.2 seconds left in regulation against George Mason to send the game into overtime. He finished with a then-career-high 15 points against the Patriots.
• Made one of the Cowboys' season-high 11 3-pointers in an upset win over No. 3 Kansas.
• Topped previous career high of 15 points after dropping 16 at home against West Virginia.
• Saw action in 30 games off the bench, and averaged 4.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
2014-15 (Freshman season)
• Saw action in nine games for the Cowboys, and averaged 1.7 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.
• Posted a season-high six points and three rebounds in 15 minutes in the win over Northwestern Oklahoma.
• Also tallied five points in the win over North Texas.
• Played in a pair of Big 12 games, and scored one point in the win over Texas Tech in Stillwater.
High School
• Was a finalist for the Guy V. Lewis Award, presented annually to the top player in the Houston area.
• Named All-State Class 5A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches as a senior.
• Was also selected to the Blue team for the 2014 TABC All-Star game for Classes 4A-5A and private schools.
• Led Team Texas to a win over Team Louisiana in the inaugural "Battle for the Gulf" All-Star game in April of 2014.
• Was an All-Greater Houston first-team selection in 2014.
• Named the Most Valuable Player of District 13-5A after leading his team to a district championship with a 16-0 mark.
• Atascocita finished 29-7 and lost in the Class 5A Region II finals.
• Averaged 22.5 points and 7.8 rebounds as a senior.
• Named to the all-tournament team at the 2013 McDonald's Texas Invitational.
• A consensus four-star recruit, he chose Oklahoma State over offers from Oklahoma, Oregon, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri and Tulsa.
Summer Ball
• Scored 35 and 31 points in back-to-back games at the Under Armor Summer Jam in July of 2013.
• Participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June of 2013.
• Led the Houston Defenders to the Under Armor Invitational 17U title in May of 2013.
• Was named to the 17U-West squad of the Under Armor Association All-Star team.
• Participated in the Great American Shoot-Out in October of 2012.
Personal
• Born July 17, 1995, Joe is the son of Patrick and Denise Burton. He has an older sister, Patricia, and a younger brother, Jevon. Joe is contemplating a major in communications/sports media at Oklahoma State.
