Sabins also handled scouting reports, Dugout Club events, and served as the team’s first base coach in 2012.
During his time as graduate assistant, Sabins served as the general manager for the Charles Town Cannons in their inaugural season in the Valley Baseball League in 2013. Under his direction, the Cannons became the only expansion team in league history to make the playoffs in their first year of play. He was responsible for building a team from scratch. Sabins led collegiate player recruitment for the 2013 team. Sabins also served as a successful head coach for the VBL's Winchester Royals (2012) and the Leesburg Thunder of the Futures Wood Bat League. Sabins’ Royals broke the team and league homerun and RBI records set in 1987 with 84 and 350, respectively. Sabins’ Thunder team won the regular season championship and World Series Championship.
As a collegiate player, Sabins began his career at Angelina Community College, then attended Daytona Beach Community College. He was then recruited to Oklahoma State where he took a medical redshirt with the Cowboys before transferring to Embry-Riddle to finish his career. He was named the Sun Conference Player of the Year and an NAIA All American at third base as a senior.
Sabins earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle in 2011 and completed his Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership-Higher Education at Oklahoma State University. He is married to the former Tabitha Tucker.
