| The Oklahoma State Cowboys have one of college football's most solid postseason resumes with 13 wins in 21 bowl appearances. The Oklahoma State football program enters the 2011 season looking to add to its bowl tradition. Oklahoma State will be trying to earn a bowl bid for the ninth time in tenth years and for a sixth-consecutive year. OSU's current five-year bowl streak is a first in Oklahoma State football history. Oklahoma State's history includes championship trophies from some of the nation's most prestigious bowl games, including the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Sun Bowl, Gator Bowl and Alamo Bowl. Along the way, the Cowboys have earned victories over the likes of Alabama, Brigham Young, Florida State and West Virginia. OSU head coach Mike Gundy has participated in two bowl games as a Cowboy player, three as an assistant coach and four as a head coach. As the Cowboy head coach and quarterback, Gundy is 5-2 in postseason games. Oklahoma State is known for the sea of orange fans who descend upon bowl sites when the Cowboys are in town. The neutral site stadiums take on the look of Boone Pickens Stadium and Gallagher-Iba Arena when the Cowboys are in town. Because of the large traveling fan base, OSU is a favorite among bowl selection committees. As a result, OSU has made bowl appearances on the east and west coasts. Not only does OSU rank among NCAA leaders with its bowl winning percentage, but the Cowboys are among the top 30 programs in America in bowl wins. |
