Preston Stout Named Jack Nicklaus Award Finalist

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State's Preston Stout has been named one of five finalists for the 2026 NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Workday.
Joining Stout as finalists are Ben James of Virginia, William Jennings of Alabama, Jackson Koivun of Auburn and Christiaan Maas of Texas,. The winner will be announced by Nicklaus on Sunday, June 7 during his annual the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday press conference. The award will be presented to the recipient by Nicklaus and Workday.
Ranked second in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and third via Scoreboard Powered by Clippd, Big 12 Player of the Year Stout has carded 11 top-20 finishes this season, seven inside the top 10, and four victories.
The junior from Richardson, Texas won his four tournaments inside a six-tournament span from March 3 at the Cabo Collegiate to April 29 at the Big 12 Championship. Also a 2026 Ben Hogan Award presented by Baird finalist, Stout became the first golfer to win three Big 12 Championships, winning by three strokes with an 11-under 269 (67-65-67-70) and leading the Cowboys to their league-record 13th Big 12 Championship.
Stout would be the sixth Oklahoma State Cowboy to receive the Nicklaus Award, the most of any school.
Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at Ohio State, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Award in 1988. The award is now presented to the National Player of the Year in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA and NJCAA.
