May 22, 2026 | Cowboy Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Preston Stout was named one of 10 finalists for the Fred Haskins Award it was announced today by The Haskins Foundation.
Since its formation in 1971, the Haskins Commission has been devoted to amateur golf and the presentation of the Haskins Award. The trophy honors the year's outstanding college golfer and the memory of Fred Haskins, a club pro who spent his life nurturing and mentoring amateur golfers.
Stout has led the Cowboys to four team titles on the year with the most recent being the program's 58th conference title at the Big 12 Championship last month.
Individually, the Richardson, Texas native is ranked No. 3 nationally and has won four times this spring with those four victories coming in his last seven starts. After repeating as medalist at the Cabo Collegiate, Stout shared top honors with teammate Ethan Fang at the Maridoe Collegiate before picking up win No. 3 at the Mountaineer Invitational.
His most recent victory came at the aforementioned Big 12 Championship, where he became the first player in league history to win the event three times. Additionally, he became the first Cowboy to capture three consecutive conference crowns since Lindy Miller did so in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
Voting for the Haskins Award opened on Friday and will conclude on June 1st after the completion of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship. Current Division I players, coaches, past Haskins Award winners, men's golf sports information directors and select college golf media members are eligible to vote for the award.
