Preston Stout Leads the Way For OSU In West Virginia

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Oklahoma State's Preston Stout continued his impressive run this spring, picking up another victory at the Mountaineer Invitational on Tuesday at Pete Dye Golf Club.
For Stout, the victory was the third in his last five starts after winning at the Cabo Collegiate and sharing medalist honors with teammate Ethan Fang at the Maridoe Collegiate.
In the team race, the Cowboys carded their low round of the event on Tuesday, a 6-under 282, to finish at 9-under 855 and tied with TCU. Clemson captured top honors with its 844 total, while Texas Tech and West Virginia shared second place at 848.
Stout fired a closing 69 to finish at 11-under 205 and a shot clear of the field. After starting his final round with bogeys on two of his first four holes, the junior played bogey-free golf the rest of the way.
After posting a birdie at the sixth, he moved back to even for the day with a birdie at the 11th. He would card an eagle at the 12th before posting his final birdie of the day at the 16th hole.
Sophomore Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson fired his low round of the tournament, posting a 68 with four birdies and an eagle to climb into a tie for 26th place at 219.
Junior Gaven Lane finished with an 80 to stand at 220 and tied for 35th place.
Competing individually, redshirt freshman Collin Bond posted a 74 to come in with a 221 total and tied for 39th place.
Also finishing at 221 was junior Eric Lee, who signed for a 73 on Tuesday.
Junior Ethan Fang closed with a 72 to finish at 222 and tied for 47th place.
