February 21, 2026 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field completed regular season action Friday at the Arkansas Qualifier and Crimson and Cream Qualifier meets.
The 17th-ranked Cowgirls got off to a hot start on the day with the Distance Medley Relay quartet of Kaylie Politza, Kalen Goodman, Elyse Wilmes and Billah Jepkirui obliterating the school record in the event with their time of 10:43.10. The Cowgirls' time is the second fastest track-legal time in NCAA history and took over four seconds off the school, meet and facility records in the process. The previous program best was held by Jepkirui, Tamara Woodley, Gabija Galvydyte and Taylor Roe of 10:47.20 set at the Eagle Elite Invitational in 2024.
Jepkirui's incredible junior season continues with her third program record of the season, joining her Mile and 3,000 Meter school records set in the past five weeks, with her Mile time of 4:22.92 being the fourth-fastest in NCAA history as well.
Politza returned to the track later in the day in the 800 Meters, delivering a second-place performance with her time of 2:03.02. Four other Cowgirls broke under 2:06 overall, with freshmen Paige Stuart, Brooke Beck, Kadence Huck and senior Madi Surber all accomplishing the feat. Overall, four Cowgirl freshmen have broken under 2:06 this season, joining Elyse Wilmes, who ran 2:03.09 at the Razorback Invitational in January.
In the women's 60 Meter Hurdles, senior Katie Chapman captured fourth place with a personal-best time of 8.45. The time propels Chapman to the No. 2 ranking in program history, improving upon her previous 8.57 finish set at the 2025 Big 12 Championships. She is also one of only two Cowgirls to run the 60 Meter Hurdles in under 8.5 seconds, with Lora Davis running an 8.14 in 1985.
In the men's Mile, freshman Nate Stadtlander was one of three Cowboys to ring in a top-10 finish after his personal-best time of 4:06.24 earned him fourth in the event. Ethan Stovall followed right behind with his time of 4:07.81 and a sixth-place finish, while Matthew Thomas placed ninth with his time of 4:11.07.
Elsewhere on the track, two Cowgirls scored finishes in the top five during the women's 3000 Meters. Sophomore Autumn Michalski was the first to cross the line for the orange and black, recording a time of 9:28.78 and placing second. Senior Jinane Mahi set a new personal best in the same race with her time of 9:32.13 and a fourth-place finish, respectively.
At the Crimson and Cream Qualifier in Norman, Okla., Lilly Ray and Bailey Strain competed in the 60 Meters, with each sprinter winning their prelim heat and advancing to the finals. In the finals, Ray jumped out to a time of 7.62, placing her in fifth for the event and No. 4 in program history, respectively. Strain placed just behind, sprinting to a time of 7.64, giving her the No. 6 position in the event and program history.
Postseason play kicks off next weekend on Feb. 27-28, with the Cowboys and Cowgirls heading to Lubbock, Texas, for the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Cowboys have placed second in each of the past three seasons, with the Cowgirls most recently winning the conference in 2023.
