STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country each moved up in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll to No. 2 and No. 9, respectively, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Cowboys are up one spot, swapping places with New Mexico after their victory over the Lobos 36-41 at the Cowboy Jamboree this past weekend at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater. Junior Denis Kipngetich picked up his second win at the Jamboree in his career with a three-second victory overall.
The No. 2 ranking marks the 17th straight poll the Cowboys have been ranked inside the top three and the 31st straight poll they've been inside the top five. The OSU men have been ranked inside the top ten in every poll since 2020, with the lowest ranking being No. 7 at the start of the 2021 season. They have also appeared in the top ten in all but one season since 2006.
For the Cowgirls, they are up four spots this week to No. 9 after defeating No. 3 New Mexico and finishing behind No. 1 BYU at the Jamboree. Freshman Isca Chelangat picked up her first career win on the grass in her first-ever appearance for the Cowgirls in cross country, winning by five seconds overall.
The Cowgirls are officially back in the top ten for the first time since 2023, when they spent 18 straight polls there from 2021-23. They have also been ranked inside the top 25 at least once every season since 2010.
