LIBERTY, CORNER, N.J. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team had a pair of rising juniors named to the 2025 U.S. Walker Cup squad by the USGA's International Team Selection working group with Ethan Fang and Preston Stout earning the honor on Friday.
The duo joins Jackson Koivun, Ben James and Michael La Sasso, who previously earned automatic selections to the 10-player roster as the three highest-ranked American players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking® / WAGR® as of June 18. The USA Team will compete against Great Britain and Ireland in the 50th Walker Cup Match on Sept. 6-7 at the Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.
"Ethan and Preston are excellent additions to further solidify this year's team," said Nathan Smith, captain of the USA Team. "These two players have worked tirelessly to put themselves in a position to be selected to this team and I'm thrilled to see their hard work rewarded. I look forward to having them on our side at Cypress Point."
Earlier this summer, Fang captured the 130th Amateur Championship at Royal St. George's, in England, becoming the first American in 18 years to win the oldest amateur competition.
The Plano, Texas native capped his first season with the Cowboys as a first-team All-American after helping the program claim its 12th NCAA title.
Fang advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 U.S. Amateur at Hazeltine National and reached the Round of 16 at the 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur at Bandon Dunes.
Stout also tallied a marquee victory on the amateur circuit earlier this summer with his win at the 2025 Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett Country Club, in Rumford, RI, by eight strokes. Like Fang, Stout was tabbed as a first-team All-American after guiding the Cowboys to a seven-win season and their aforementioned national title.
Stout also won the 2024 and 2025 Big 12 Conference individual titles, qualified for match play at the 2023 and 2024 U.S. Amateurs and finished third as an individual in the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships. The Richardson, Texas native also shared medalist honors this spring at the Cabo Collegiate.
The USGA's International Team Selection working group (ITS) will name additional players to the Walker Cup Team immediately following the U.S. Amateur Championship. The winner of the 2025 U.S. Amateur, set to take place Aug. 11-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., and the recipient of the 2025 McCormack Medal, should they be American, will earn the final automatic spots onto the team.
The Walker Cup Match is a 10-man amateur team competition between the USA and Great Britain and Ireland. Cypress Point Club previously hosted the 1981 Walker Cup, when the USA defeated GB&I, 15-9.
