AUGUSTA, Ga. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team rallied over the final two holes of the third round at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational on Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club to pick up its third victory of the season.
The fourth-ranked Cowboys posted a closing 10-under round of 278 to finish at 20-under par 844 and tied with Texas at the par-72, 7,086-yard layout.
OSU found itself within striking distance for much of the back nine before sophomores Gaven Lane, Ethan Fang and Eric Lee all birdied the 17th and 18th. Classmate Preston Stout made it seven birdies over the final two holes for the four counting scores with his birdie at the finishing hole to pull OSU even with the Longhorns.
The Cowboys have not finished outside the top three in six starts this spring, winning twice, finishing second three times and having a third-place finish as well. OSU closed its fall slate with its first win of the year.
Additionally, the win marks the third time the Cowboys have won the event in Augusta, claiming the title in 2011 and 2021 as well.
Stout's closing birdie gave him a final round of 71 and an 11-under 205 total to finish a shot off the top spot on the leaderboard held by North Carolina's David Ford and Illinois' Max Herendeen. Ford claimed medalist honors with a birdie on the first playoff hole.
The Cowboy sophomore's third-place finish was his fourth top-three showing in his last five starts, a stretch that also includes a victory at the Cabo Collegiate.
Lee fired a 69 to move into a tie for seventh place at 211. His finish marked his third consecutive top 10 and the fourth in his last five starts.
Fang narrowly missed his eighth top 10 of the year, sharing 12th place at 213 after closing with a 70.
Lane fired a closing 68 which featured five birdies against just one bogey to tie for 20th place at 215.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson closed with a 73 to tie for 47th place at 221.
