April 15, 2025 | Cowboy Baseball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State fell to No. 12 Oklahoma Tuesday night in an 11-1, eight-inning contest at O'Brate Stadium.
With the loss, the Cowboys dropped to 16-18, while OU improved to 26-10 with the run-rule victory.
The overall Bedlam baseball series now sits at 189-161 in favor of Oklahoma State, and the Pokes are 37-15 against their in-state rivals under head coach Josh Holliday.
Colin Brueggemann homered in the loss, and Brayden Smith was unable to collect a hit in the game, ending his hitting streak at 19 games; the last Cowboy to boast a hitting streak of that length was Christian Encarnacion-Strand in 2021.
Ryan Ure made his fifth start and 13th appearance of the season for OSU and took the loss to fall to 1-4. In his only inning of work, the southpaw allowed five runs on five hits and two walks as the Sooners took a5-0 lead in their first at bat and never looked back.
Brennan Phillips entered the game to start the second inning for the Cowboys and was able to limit the Sooner bats to one run on one hit over his three innings of work.
Brueggemann put the Pokes on the board in the fourth inning with his eighth home run of the season, a 440-foot blast to right-center field that tied him for the team lead and made it a 6-1 game.
OU had another big inning in the eighth, scoring five runs, with Jason Walk's grand slam bringing the score to 11-1.
The Cowboys return to Big 12 Conference action Friday night when they open a three-game series with Houston at O'Brate Stadium.
