Cowboys Grab Lead In Record-Setting Fashion In Hawaii

Round 1 Results
KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired an opening 262 on Thursday during the first round of play at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate to lead by two at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club.
The ninth-ranked Cowboys blistered the par-72, 6,913-yard layout with their 26-under tally to break the school's 18-hole scoring mark of 24-under 264 set twice previously in Hawaii. OSU finished the day two strokes clear of Arizona State and six ahead of North Carolina.
For the second year in a row, sophomore Preston Stout came to the final hole with an opportunity to break the school's 18-hole individual scoring mark. Standing at 10-under through 17, Stout made a par five on his closing hole to once again match the mark with a 62.
Stout began his day with a birdie at the 11th and would add five more for a 5-under 31. He would add birdies at the second and fourth as well as an eagle at the seventh and another birdie at the eight for a second nine of 5-under 31. He finished the day one clear of the field.
Sophomore Ethan Fang finished the day tied for third place after firing an 8-under 64. His round included seven birdies, an eagle and one bogey.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson climbed into the top 20 posting a 5-under 67 to finish in a tie for 19th place.
Sophomore Eric Lee wrapped up the day tied for 36th place with a 3-under 69, while classmate Gaven Lane carded a 71 to stand in a tie for 64th place.
Sophomore Johnnie Clark is competing individually and posted a 69 as well.
The second round will begin at 7:30 (HST) on Friday morning with the final round set to get underway at the same time on Saturday.
