July 16, 2024 | Cowboy Baseball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State pitchers Tommy Molsky and Ryan Ure were selected on the final day of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft.
Molsky was a 12th-round pick of the Kansas City Royals, while Ure was taken in the 19th round by the San Francisco Giants.
OSU had eight players selected in the '24 draft, which is tied for the seventh most in program history. In the last 12 years under head coach Josh Holliday, 72 Cowboys have been MLB Draft picks, with 33 of those selected in the first 10 rounds.
A right-hander, Molsky came to OSU in 2024 after two seasons at Penn State. In 19 appearances, which included a pair of starts, he posted a 6-3 record and a 4.83 ERA. Four of his wins came in Big 12 Conference play.
An All-Big 12 Honorable Mention performer, Molsky pitched 41 innings and ranked third on the Cowboys with 66 strikeouts.
Ure is in his third year in Stillwater but missed the 2023 season and the first half of the 2024 campaign recovering from Tommy John surgery.
A southpaw who was also drafted out of Eaton High School in the 16th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, Ure pitched in nine games in relief this season and was 1-0 with a 4.91 ERA and seven strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
In 22 career appearances for the Cowboys, all out of the bullpen, Ure is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA and has struck out 22 in 14 2/3 innings.
