Cowboy Golf Fourth At NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team slipped two spots into fourth place on Tuesday during the second round of action at the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional at The Farms Golf Club.
The Cowboys posted an 8-over 288 to stand at 6-over 566 through 36 holes at the par-70, 6,962-yard layout. Tomorrow's final round will see a tightly bunched leaderboard with six teams within eight shots of the lead held by North Florida, which stands at 563. California is second at 564 and West Virginia is third with its 565 total.
The event is one of six 54-hole regional tournaments being conducted around the country. The top five teams and low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 24-29 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
OSU's Jonas Baumgartner posted his second consecutive 69 to climb into a tie for third place at 2-under 138. The senior will begin his final round three shots off the pace of the lead held by California's Sampson Zheng.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas followed an opening 67 with a 73 to join his teammate in the top 10, coming in tied for eighth place at 140.
After opening with a 71, freshman Preston Stout carded a 72 to stand in a tie for 17th place at 143.
Senior Bo Jin signed for a 74 on Tuesday to share 25th place at 145.
Freshman Gaven Lane was a stroke back at 146 after posting a 74 to come in tied for 30th place.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Oklahoma and San Diego. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
