Cowboys Remain Third Through Three Rounds At Big 12 Championship

Third Round Results
TRINITY, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted its second consecutive round of 284 on Tuesday during the third round of action at the Big 12 Championship to remain in third place at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
With their 4-under round, the Cowboys stand at 1-under 863 through 54 holes and one shot behind Oklahoma for second place. Texas will enter the final round of play with an 11-shot lead after tallying an 851 total at the par-72, 7,434-yard layout.
Cincinnati's Ty Gingerich carded a 69 on Tuesday to stand at 8-under 208 and two strokes clear of OSU's Preston Stout.
Stout moved into sole possession of second place at 210 after firing a 5-under 67. The Cowboy freshman carded eight birdies during his round to move up the leaderboard. After opening with a pair of birdies, Stout added another at the fifth before turning in 3-under 33. He countered a bogey at the 10th with two more birdies at the 11th and 12th.
With birdies at the 14th and 15th, Stout moved to 6-under for the day before carding back-to-back bogeys at Nos. 16 and 17. However, he would bounce back with a birdie at the par-4 closing hole.
He will enter tomorrow looking to become OSU's 11th Big 12 medalist. Leif Westerberg (1997), Charles Howell (2000), Anders Hultman (2002), Hunter Mahan (2003), Pablo Martin (2007), Rickie Fowler (2008), Morgan Hoffmann (2009, 2011), Stratton Nolen (2016) and Kristoffer Ventura (2018) have all taken top honors at the event.
Jonas Baumgartner improved his standing by 18 spots, moving into a tie for 18th place at 220 after signing for a 3-under 69. The senior went bogey free on Tuesday while carding three birdies on the day.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas' 75 also put him among the group at 220, while freshman Gaven Lane was a stroke back at 221 and tied for 35th place after signing for a 73.
Senior Bo Jin rounded out the starting five with a 78 to stand at 224 and tied for 47th place.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Oklahoma and Texas. Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com and tomorrow's final round can be viewed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
