Cowboys Third Through 36 Holes At Big 12 Championship

Day 1 Results
TRINITY, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened the first day of action at the Big 12 Championship on Monday with a 36-hole total of 579, 3-over par, to stand alone in third place at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The Cowboys opened play with a 7-over 295 to hold seventh place at the par-72, 7,434-yard layout following the first round. OSU fired the low round of the afternoon, a 4-under 284, and was one of just three teams to break par during the second round.
BYU finished the day in first place at 575, while Texas was second at 576.
Individually, BYU's Peter Kim and CIncinnati's Ty Gingerich each finished the day at 5-under 139 and two shots clear of the rest of the field.
OSU's Preston Stout vaulted 24 spots during his second round with a 3-under 69 to move into a tie for fifth place. The freshman posted an opening 74 before mounting his charge during the afternoon. Stout put together a bogey-free first nine that featured a birdie at the second.
He birdied the 11th and 12th to move to 3-under for the round before carding his lone bogey at the 13th. He would bounce back with a birdie at the 17th to move back to 3-under. Stout finished the day at 1-under 143.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas also made a move during the afternoon, following an opening 73 with an even-par 72 to climb eight spots into a tie for 12th place at 1-over 145.
Senior Bo Jin carded rounds of 74 and 72 to stand at 2-over 146 and tied for 20th place.
Freshman Gaven Lane rebounded from an opening 77 with a 71 to move into a tie for 35th place at 148.
Senior Jonas Baumgartner posted rounds of 74 and 77 to share 49th place at 11.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with BYU and Texas. Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
