April 15, 2024 | Cowboy Baseball
IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Robert Cranz is the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for his performance in week nine.
A junior right-hander, Cranz made a pair of relief appearances to help lead the Cowboys to a series sweep of Cincinnati as they extended their season-best winning streak to five games.
In the series opener, Cranz picked up the win with a career effort as he worked four shutout innings and posted a career-best eight strikeouts, doubling his previous high.
Cranz entered the game with OSU trailing 3-1 in the seventh inning with two runners in scoring position and no outs. He proceeded to strike out two of the first three batters he faced before an infield single gave the Bearcats' a 4-1 advantage.
In the eighth, Cranz retired the side in order, then struck out the side in the ninth. The game would go into extra innings, and he struck out the first two batters in the 10th, giving him six consecutive strikeouts.
Cranz also came out of the bullpen in Sunday's series finale, entering in the eighth inning of an 8-6 game and retiring both batters he faced to help preserve OSU's lead.
In a team-high 19 appearances this season, Cranz is 2-1 with a save and a 1.50 ERA, and he has tallied 34 strikeouts in 30 innings of work.
